Report of NSE Visit 13.08.2018
A visit to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was organized by the Department of Economics, P.G.D.A.V. (Eve.) College on August 13, 2018.The trip was organized under the 'Visit to NSE' Program. Under this program, groups of students visit NSE to attend a 2-hour session. The session includes lectures on 'Overview of the Exchange', 'Capital Markets', 'Derivative Markets' and 'NSE Academy's Certification in Financial Markets (NCFM)'. In this session,
A good number of students from 3rd and 2nd year signed up for it. No fee was taken from the students as this was an educational seminar. But only 25 students were selected for the visit as the seats were limited. Ms. Geeta Ahuja, Ms. Deepika Sharma and Mr. Gautam Jha accompanied the students in this trip. Mr. Kunal Tyagi of the NSE gave a presentation to the students. The presentation touched upon the history of stock market trading, history of NSE as well as different aspects of stock market trading. An explanation about the two indices, namely SENSEX and NIFTY was also given. The students learned about stock exchange structure, its operations, products traded on it among other things. They also learnt about NCFM certification which not only expands their knowledge base, but also improves their career prospects. Most students were enthusiastic about the NCFMs and asked a number of questions about them.
